School Flex Program

To be eligible to participate in the School Flex Program, an eligible student must:

1. Attend school a minimum of two instructional hours per school day within the District.
2. Pursue a timely graduation.
3. Provide evidence of college or technical career educational enrollment and attendance, or proof of employment and labor that is aligned with the student’s career academic plan developed by the District.
4. Refrain from being expelled or suspended while participating in the School Flex Program.
5. Pursue course and credit requirements for a diploma.
6. Maintain a ninety-five (95%) attendance rate.

Credit Earning Procedures

Students in grades 9-12 must earn credits to meet the necessary criteria to receive a high school diploma at Glasgow High School.  There are various ways that credit may be earned.

The following methods may be used to obtain High School Credit:

Traditional method of credit - student is enrolled in a course (semester or year-long) at Glasgow High School with an onsite instructor (credit may be given as either letter grade or pass/fail credit-determined by administration)

Transfer credit – the graduation requirements for students in MO Public Schools Handbook (January 2007) details ways students may transfer credit from another institution on pages 6-8 of the handbook. 

Credit by correspondence – this credit must be from an accredited institution, an example is MU High School (credit may be given as either letter grade or pass/fail credit-determined by administration).  Information is detailed on page 8 of the Graduation Requirements for Students in MO Public Schools Handbook (January 2007).

Electronic Media Course Credit – this credit may be offered via MoVIP, satellite video courses, cable video courses, ITV, and computer driving or on-line courses (credit may be given as either letter grade or pass/fail credit-determined by administration).  Information is detailed on page 8 of the Graduation Requirements for Students in MO Public Schools Handbook (January 2007).

Credit recovery – a student failed a class taken via another method, so they have an opportunity to earn credit by correcting the deficiencies of the course (credit is given as pass/fail credit).  Information is detailed on page 10 of the Graduation Requirements for Students in MO Public Schools Handbook (January 2007).

Students that are homeschooled prior to enrolling at Glasgow High School will complete a grade placement evaluation.  Records from the homeschool setting, assessment of student’s age, total educational experience will be evaluated and achievement tests will be administered to determine placement.  Board Policy 2280.

Students that are not being homeschooled, but are in attendance for the entire school day at Glasgow High School also have the opportunity to obtain outside credit via homeschool curriculum.  Those students must provide documentation of both the curriculum and the homeschool subject-matter covered, along with an assignment record to the school administration for the credit to be considered for acceptance.  Students will also be required to demonstrate content knowledge of the subject.  Students will be required to take the End of Course for that subject (if an EOC is offered) and score proficient to earn 1.0 credit in the subject.  If an EOC is not given in the subject area, the student will be required to pass the semester final (given by the school district) with at least a 70% to acquire semester credit in that course.  If a comprehensive final is not given in that course, then the situation will be examined on a case by case basis.
