P 1465 Relations with Community Organizations

A school can only be as successful as the Superintendent is skillful in utilizing the talents of parents and other members of the community in a decision-making capacity. For this reason, it is vital that community groups and associations play a strong role in the local school.

  1. The PTSA has long been among the strongest supporters of public education. In fact, the PTSA playing an involved and active role is vital to the success of any school organization. Principals, teachers, and all other staff members shall seek to strengthen and support the PTSA by cooperating in any way possible to provide assistance, materials, facilities or other aid to assist the PTSA in helping the schools.
  2. Each school should make a systematic effort to identify community groups and organizations which are interested in schools and have resources that would enhance the learning program. Plans should be made to cooperate with and to involve such groups in the school program.
  3. Parents should play a meaningful role in school life. The decision-making process must take into consideration appropriate involvement of parents and other citizens. The local school should include citizen groups and their representatives on advisory committees, operational involvement groups, and in other appropriate advisory roles.
