P 5440 Authorized Use of School Owned Materials and Equipment

School equipment may be rented under provision of the revised statutes of Missouri or as requested by a local, state or federal government body. The Board shall also permit school equipment to be loaned to staff members when such use is directly related to their employment and to students when the equipment is to be used in connection with their studies or extracurricular activities. With some exceptions and under controlled conditions and proper supervision as set by the school administration, school equipment may be used by employees, students and community groups during and after school hours when it is to be used on school property.

Responsible community groups such as civic organizations, businesses, parent groups, adult athletic groups, churches and in some cases student groups (when properly supervised) may borrow mechanical and non-mechanical equipment of the school with the privilege of removing it from school property for use. The school administration shall set up controls and guidelines for the proper usage and safe return of such equipment. Fees or deposits may be required for certain equipment.

Equipment may not be loaned for use for day to day commercial activities or profit motive activities except on an occasional or emergency basis.

Equipment will not be loaned to individuals except by special permission of the Superintendent.

Employees may borrow school equipment for personal use with permission of the Superintendent but must reimburse the school for damaged or destroyed equipment if it is evident that damage was due to neglect, improper use or abuse.

The Superintendent and administration shall set up controls and guidelines for lending equipment and shall be responsible for its safe return.
