Planning for school buildings may be initiated by the Board on request from the staff, patrons, and/or Superintendent or by the Board's own appreciation of need. Principals and their staffs shall be consulted from the sketch plan stage until the final layout is determined. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education shall be consulted for the final plans and specifications. Building plans for new construction or major structural renovation will be designed in accordance with building codes, seismic design standards if required by law, and requirements for access to disabled persons as required by law.
