Resident foreign exchange students under the auspices of an organization or association accredited by the state and/or federal governments for that purpose may enroll in the School District, and shall have all the rights and privileges of a resident student during the period of enrollment. Those sponsoring agencies which comply with the standards for foreign student exchange programs as established by the U.S. Department of State are those which will be recognized by the District.
All foreign exchange students must be in an approved CSIET (Council on Students for International Educational Travel) program. Foreign exchange students must have a F-1 (academic student), M-1 (vocational student), or J-1 (exchange visitor) visa. All foreign exchange students must meet eligibility standards set by both the district and Missouri State High School Athletic Association. All foreign exchange requests must be approved by May 1st of each school year. These requests must be approved by building Principal and Superintendent. The opportunity to host a foreign exchange student is a privilege, not a right.
