P 4510 Benefits

The Board of Education provides fringe benefits to full-time staff members. The extent and nature of fringe benefits provided may vary from employee group to employee group.

Insurance coverage for staff members includes:

  1. Liability Insurance
  2. Workers' Compensation Insurance
  3. Unemployment Compensation Insurance
  4. Medicare Coverage
  5. Medical Insurance
  6. Short-term and long-term disability benefits are provided for all full-time employees
  7. Board paid term life insurance in the amount of $10,000 is provided for all employees as a part of the employee benefit package. Additional term life insurance coverage may be obtained by the employee (at the employee's personal expense) for the employee or for the employee's spouse and the employee's children. Any premium expense incurred by the employee for such additional term life coverage may be deducted from employee's monthly paycheck.

Sick Leave Incentive Benefit

The Board of Education will provide a sick leave incentive benefit for employees who accumulate unused sick leave. The benefits will be paid in the following manner:

  1. Certified Staff: The employee will receive a yearly incentive benefit of $30 for each day of unused sick leave (maximum of l0 days per year). The employee may choose to receive the payment or to have the amount deposited in a district approved, tax-sheltered annuity. An employee who has been employed by the District at least 5 consecutive years, upon retirement or when leaving employment in the district will receive $30 for each day of accumulated sick leave (maximum of 70 days). Part-time employees will be paid at a rate equivalent to their FTE*.
  2. Classified Staff: Same as above policy except the amount of pay per day is $20.

*FTE is full-time equivalency, or percent of full time.
