A designated period of time may be provided for public comments of residents of the district and parents of students of Paris R-II at all regular Board meetings. The Board is very interested in citizen viewpoints and problems; however, citizens are encouraged to work through problems at the building and/or administrative levels before coming to the Board. Questions directed to the Board may not always be answered immediately. All questions will be responded to by an appropriate person as soon as possible. Persons who wish to suggest items for the agenda should contact the Superintendent.
The following rules will be applied to the public comment portion of the meeting:
- Those that wish to speak during public comments need to sign up before the start of the board meeting.
- Each speaker is limited to three minutes and to one appearance, thus allowing a maximum number of participants in the allotted time period in which citizens are to speak to issues.
- Public comment portion of the agenda will take a maximum of fifteen (15) minutes.
- Only one person may speak on the same subject, so a group will need to choose a designated speaker.
- Each individual may address the board only once on the same subject, and will not be permitted to speak more than once during this period.
- Statements regarding issues or concerns about individual students, staff members, or legal matters are not allowed during open session. A request may be made to appear before the Board in an executive session.
- If a decision is expected from the Board, a request needs to be made for the item to be placed on the agenda.
