P 4412 Graduate Reimbursement

The West County R-IV School District shall reimburse, through the Professional Development Committee (PDC) Program, employees of the West County R-IV School District who are employed as certificated classroom teachers in accordance with the following criteria:

  1. The employee must be enrolled in a regionally or nationally accredited institution of higher education approved to grant academic credit beyond a bachelor’s degree.
  2. Be employed full time by West County R-IV schools as a certificated instructor.
  3. Provide the district with a transcript and paid receipt for the course.
  4. All course work must be within the area of education certification, eligible to be credited toward an advanced degree or work that the employee takes for additional areas of certification.
  5. All course work must receive prior written approval of both the PDC and the superintendent before reimbursement may be requested.
  6. Tuition reimbursement will begin after the teacher has been employed by the district for three (3) consecutive years. Tuition reimbursement will not be made to a teacher if they do not return to the school district the following year. All teachers employed prior to the 1998-1999 school year will continue to qualify for the tuition reimbursement.
  7. Tuition reimbursement will be determined by the Professional Development Committee each year.  The budgeted amount and the amount of tuition hours approved for tuition reimbursement will be reviewed and adjusted as well.  No teacher receiving reimbursement will receive more than the amount paid for the class.
  8. Reimbursement shall only be made for course work that is successfully completed with a grade of  "A" or "B" in the course.                                                                .
  9. Tuition reimbursement by the West County R-IV School District shall be made one time each year for course work taken. This shall be made each year in June.
  10. There will be no tuition reimbursement for undergraduate course work.
  11. The following forms must be submitted to the superintendent's office by June 1:
    • Tuition Reimbursement Form
    • Proof of Payment
    • Class Grade
