Resignations shall be presented in writing to the Superintendent of Schools. A tenured teacher desiring to terminate employment shall submit a letter to the Superintendent providing reasons for the termination not later than June 1.
Once under contract, only the Board of Education has the authority to release an employee from a contract. After an employee has signed and returned his or her contract, or in the case of a tenured teacher, after June 1, an employee will fulfill the responsibilities of his or her contract.
The Board of Education reserves the right to pursue all available legal remedies when an employee breaks a contract with the district, including but not limited to: filing charges to have a teaching certificate or professional license revoked or seeking a monetary judgment.
The late release of professional staff from contracts adversely affects the students of our school district. Consequently, should an employee wish to be released after having signed a contract, or in the case of a tenured teacher, after June 1, the release will be granted upon the following:
The following schedule of damages has been established by the Board of Education and reflects the approximate additional cost that will be incurred by the district in replacing the employee.
