P 2840 Student Accident Insurance

The Board of Education recommends that all students have accident insurance for both their own and their parents'/guardians' protection. Although arranging for such insurance is the responsibility of the student and parents/guardians, the District will name an insurance carrier each year to offer group rates. Participation in the group plan is optional. Parents/guardians and students will deal directly with the insurance carrier.

Students participating in interscholastic athletics, cheerleadng, pompon squads and similar groups will be required to have adequate insurance coverage. This may be in the form of either family coverage or a provisional coverage. The by-laws of the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA), of which the District is a member, require that a student be covered through accident insurance before being allowed to practice or compete for a school team. The student will not be allowed to participate in practice until a signed letter indicating adequate insurance coverage is received in the principal's office.
