P 4160 Use of Personal Vehicle

Employees of the district may from time to time be required to perform functions of duties in locations outside of District buildings, or to travel from building to building within the District.  When performing such functions, employees may be required to use their own personal automobiles.

In such situations, District employees are only allowed to travel to and from locations which the District has expressly authorized.  Employees are not, at any time, or for any reason, permitted to take personal detours during the course of travel from a District authorized location to another.

The District will not be liable for injuries done to a third party by a District employee traveling in a personal automobile, when the employee has detoured from his/her actual job duties and requirements.  Additionally, if an employee travels beyond the authorized time or space limits permitted by the District, or if the employee's travel was not done in furtherance of any instruction or interest of the District, the District will not be liable for any damage done to third parties or property.
