The Board recognizes that in certain circumstances a student may benefit from early graduation from high school. Accordingly the Board will allow a student to cease attendance and participate in the next graduation exercise after the 6th or 7th semester if all other requirements have been met and the following procedure has been followed:
- A written request by the student and parent/guardian must be submitted to the secondary principal by the end of the sixth week of school. Such application must be made on a form provided by the secondary principal and shall be signed by both the student and parent/guardian.
- The request for early termination of attendance will be reviewed by the principal and the counselor. If the request is approved the student may cease attendance at the end of the semester.
- Students who request and are granted an early termination of attendance and who are no longer in the District high school will be eligible to participate in the next baccalaureate and graduation exercise. Diplomas will be given at or after the graduation exercise. For all other purposes they will be considered as graduates.
With the approval of the principal or Superintendent, students may receive up to three (3) credits for correspondence courses, summer school or college work or a combination of the three.
