Early Graduation should not be considered an option before the end of the seventh semester and under the following guidelines:
1. A student who wishes to graduate from high school in less time than the ordinary eight (8) semester, grade 9-12 sequence, may request permission to complete graduation requirements on an alternate schedule. The student and the parents/guardians will consult with the high school guidance personnel to develop a graduation plan. The student's intention to accomplish this shall be stated in writing to the principal.
A student who graduates early must complete all graduation requirements established by the Board.
2. A formal application stating the reason for early graduation at the end of the seventh semester must be presented to the counselor no later than the fourth week of the seventh semester (at the end of September).
3. All requirements must be completed by the end of the seventh semester.
4. The student must be enrolled in the District for one full semester prior to the request.
5. Students electing to graduate early are not eligible for the positions of Valedictorian or Salutatorian. They will not be included in the listing of the top ten percent of the class. Final class rank will be determined as shown at the end of the last semester enrolled and will not be included in the end-of-year class rank. Exception: Any scholarships applied for and received shall be awarded; early graduates will have the opportunity to wear honor cords at graduation ceremonies, if they have earned that privilege.
6. All extracurricular activities at the District, such as Senior Prom, organizational trips, and any school-sponsored athletic or social events will be closed to early graduates, except as guests.
7. Students graduating early are not required to participate in graduation exercises; however, if they elect to do so, arrangements and payment for cap and gown must be completed before the end of the last semester of attendance. Early graduates not participating in graduation will be expected to pick up their diplomas with the remainder of the class, after the end of the regular school year.
8. Semester examinations are not optional for seniors graduating early. All seniors are required to take finals at the end of the first semester unless they qualify for a "Final Waiver."
9. Summer school or correspondence credit will not count toward credit for early graduation.
10. Approved college courses and dual-enrolled college courses will be accepted toward meeting graduation requirements.
