P 0361 Board Member Graduation Ceremony Participation

Board members are expected to take part in the graduation ceremonies, including the wearing of a traditional graduation gown. If not participating it is expected the member will contact the High School Principal at least one week prior to the graduation ceremony to make them aware of their non-attendance.

The Board President will present the diploma to the graduating senior with the exceptions of a student requesting a fellow Board member, Teacher (relative within 2nd degree), High School Principal, or the Superintendent to present them their diploma.  There will be a maximum of three diplomas each presented by the HS Principal and/or Superintendent of Schools.

As per prior Board action (May 2002) a former Board member will be allowed to take part in the graduation ceremonies for the purpose of presenting a relative within the 2nd degree their diploma.  It is the former Board member’s responsibility to let the High School Principal aware of their intentions by April 1st for the purpose of ordering a graduation gown for the ceremony.

By a majority vote of the Board of Education any/all of the above mentioned mandates may be waived.
